I run a number of domains, both for friends and myself. In my own suite, I have Beyond Bridges, which is this site - my prime business site and blog. Of course, everyone needs their own personal domain … you can find mine at philpin.com - but at the time of registering that domain, I also took philpin.net - and then more recently a friend of mine started a humorous blog (well, that’s the intent at least) … basically a couple of chaps - with things on their mind - you know your read something, you hear something - and as you build your case to extend that thought - don’t you always say And Another Thing ….
Needless to say Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter and so on all add to a sprawling collection of comments and thoughts from yours truly. I write because I can - and I enjoy it. And I am always looking for ways to ‘amplify the signal’ as they say - so regularly experiment with interesting things I find. Call me slow - I recently came across the guys at Powr. Oh my.
Free Tools for Every Website
.. well I had to look - right? They had me at ‘Free’ - I got going real quick. You can click through to Philpin.com, Philpin.net and/or And Another Thing to see these components in action. On And Another Thing - you will see Powr’s contribution on the navigation bar on the right. What is really interesting is that I have barely got going with the choice of components you can use. There are actually 54 of these puppies, including slide galleries, forms, buttons, music players … A selection of all the possible categories of plugins - each plugin seems to have countless variations. I have barely left two of the fifty four plugins so far.
I also like a single dashboard found at the Powr site, where I can manage the plugins in one place. A selection of the plugins I have enabled as seen on the Powr dashboard.
On my personal site, I have collected all kinds of feeds from various places and have the content displayed all in one place. Essentially a destination site for anyone interested in what I have been going on about recently. Uniquely styled using the ‘power of powr’ - allows my widgets to fit right in with the rest of my site …
And, this is how it looks over at And Another Thing … which by the way I think you should look to sign up and start getting occasional things delivered to your inbox - but that - as they say - is ‘altogether another thing’. … and you can drop them right onto any page - or build right into the navigation / sidebar of your site. In fairness, I mentioned ‘free’ earlier on - and there is a lot you can do with the free thang - BUT - I decided to sign up for their pro service which gives me a larger number of widgets to play with and so more flexibility across the range of sites I have. But really, the free works. You should try it out. There is nothing to lose. And they seem to be building a cadre of other useful services to people trying to establish an online presence … such as shopping carts … something that I don’t need - but is yet another component waiting to be used. Go visit them on twitter to see what I mean.
The site has been closed down and the material moved to this site for posterity.
